Doctors

David J. Suscovich, Psy.D., LMFT

David Suscovich has a doctorate in clinical psychology with a specialty in child psychological and neuropsychological assessment from Antioch New England University. Dr. Suscovich is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and has practiced in Connecticut for the past 30 years. For the past 9 years, he has been a Clinical Consultant to The Reynolds Clinic. He conducts psycho-educational and neuropsychological evaluations for the clinic. Dr. Suscovich has been trained in EEG Neuro-Feedback Training and works with parents and teachers to understand the relationship between brain functioning and behaviors. Along with his interest in the assessment of brain-behavior relationships, Dr. Suscovich has conducted research in the effects of long-term stress on brain development, learning and executive functions of the brain in children. His research has suggested that long term family stress may result in delays in brain development in the areas of organization & planning abilities, short term working memory, attention-concentration, and controlling impulsive behaviors in children diagnosed as conduct disordered and oppositional defiant disorder. These delays often present with impaired language abilities and a history of poor learning performance. He is currently conducting research on the relationship between visual processing and the impact on reading and writing learning problems.

Dr. Suscovich has been a Clinical Instructor at the Yale University School of Medicine, Dept. of Psychiatry and an Adjunct Professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy Training Program of Central Connecticut State University. Dr. Suscovich has provided clinical consultation to a number of nonprofit community agencies and programs. He is the author of a variety of research publications and previous co-host of "Grasp the Facts", a television program for educating parents about children's mental health issues for three years. He is certified parent trainer through CHADD and provides parenting workshops, training for educational personnel and organizational consultation for a variety of not-for-profit and government organizations.

Dr. John Cline, Ph.D, D,ABSM

John Cline, is a licensed clinical psychologist and is board certified in clinical sleep disorders and certified in biofeedback. He has practiced psychology in Connecticut for the past 27 years and has served as a consultant and QEEG specialist to The Reynolds Clinic for the past nine years. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Pain Management. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Society for Chaos Theory in Psychology and the Life Sciences and the EEG and Clinical Neuroscience Society; a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Connecticut Psychological Association; and a senior fellow of the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America. He is a past president of the Connecticut Psychological Association and served as a member of the Council of Representatives of the American Psychological Association. In 1996 he was awarded the American Psychological Association's Karl F. Heiser Presidential Award for Advocacy in Psychology. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the Yale Medical School and is a clinical supervisor in the Department of Psychology at Yale University. While actively working in sleep medicine and pain management he also writes the "Sleepless in America" blog for Psychology Today Magazine.

Nurses

Candace Stanberry, BSN, MSN

Candace received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Boston University and a Master of Science Degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Boston College. Prior to earning her master's degree, she was employed by Massachusetts Mental Health Center where she worked primarily with adolescents in crisis. While earning her degree, she worked at the Boston University Counseling Center helping college students under stress. After earning her degree, she provided individual, couples, and group psychotherapy at the Middlesex Memorial Hospital Mental Health Clinic.

While raising her son and being actively involved in educational systems, Candace started a private psychotherapy practice. For the past ten years, she has worked as a neurofeedback clinician at The Reynolds Clinic. She has completed the EEG Biofeedback training course sponsored by EEG Spectrum International. At the clinic, she has developed and taught a Parent Education Workshop and, along with Dr. Reynolds, is responsible for the training of all new neurofeedback Clinicians. She also continues her private psychotherapy practice and her role as Pastoral Counselor for the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.

Serena Steele, RN

Serena Steele is a graduate of Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. Her long career has provided her with a wide variety of experiences in many areas. Serena worked for several years at The Hospital for Special Care as Head Nurse, responsible for a large unit caring for severely mentally and physically disabled individuals for all ages. She also worked at Connecticut Valley Hospital on a medical/psychiatric unit where she supervised the care of very complex patients who suffered from both mental and physical illnesses. For several years, Serena also worked in the homecare field, where she taught both clients and staff, and provided hospice care to terminally ill clients.

Serena's career pathways have also led her to local school system where she provided individual care for a severely disabled child. Most recently, she worked as an RN Consultant for an agency that provided case management, assessment and advocacy for developmentally disabled individuals in group home settings. Serena has been part of the staff at The Reynolds Clinic for over five years.

Martha Clancy, BSN, MS Ed.

Martha Clancy has worked at The Reynolds Clinic for the past six years, serving as a Neurofeedback clinician and qEEG technician. She has extensive prior experience in nursing and community mental health counseling with individuals and groups. She is a licensed registered nurse in both NY and CT, and is a member of the AAPB (Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback) and the Northeast Regional Biofeedback Society. She is certified by the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America, as Associate Fellow. She enjoys incorporating principles of stress management and self regulation and finds it rewarding to work with both children and adults in the process of experiencing positive change in their lives.

 


Lani Jensen, RN, BSN

Lani is a 2002 graduate of Creighton University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She began her career in neurology as a registered nurse and also worked as a research coordinator for pharmaceutical studies. Lani developed a passion for public health and began working with Medicaid clients at Nebraska Health Connection/Kids Connection.

She moved to Colorado after getting married and worked with pregnant mothers, newborns, and children with special needs at a large, local health department.

Lani was also a part-time consultant for the Colorado Department of Education providing diabetes education and training to school staff. When she is not working at The Reynolds Clinic, Lani loves to keep busy with her two young children. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, being involved in her church, photography, and cooking.

Amy Foster, RN

Amy graduated in 1994 from Saint Joseph college in West Hartford where she received her bachelor’s degree in the science of nursing (BSN) with a minor in Psychology.

She started her nursing career as a nursing assistant in rehabilitative medicine caring for people with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries and strokes. Over the following 15 years she worked as an RN in an emergency department. Amy joined The Reynolds Clinic in 2009 as a Neurofeedback clinician.
